A 1973 interview with Kathy

Kathy Etchingham was Jimi's long-time English girlfriend.  He lived here with her on and off between 1968-69.

The Wind Cries Mary was written in this flat, and Kathy was the inspiration for the song (her middle name is Mary).  It is probable that Kathy was also the inspiration for Foxy Lady.

Largely due to Kathy's efforts and in recognition of Jimi's residence here, 23 Brook Street, London W1 was awarded a Blue Plaque by English Heritage in 1988.  The composer Handel also lived here 1723-59.

in 1993 Kathy was also instrumental in getting Scotland Yard to re-open the investigation into the circumstances of Jimi's death.

Thank you, Kathy!
